Abstract:
In the digital age, data science is a critical skill that the U.S. K-12 education system largely neglects. This paper examines the urgent need to integrate data science into the K-12 curriculum, focusing on practical skills, critical thinking, and character development. By leveraging existing educational structures and resources, and drawing on current models, I propose comprehensive recommendations to prepare students for a data-centric future. Implementing these changes will ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills to navigate and excel in a world increasingly driven by data.
